Studies show that West Azerbaijan province and the southern parts of the country have the highest amount of fluoride and other northwestern provinces have the lowest amount of fluoride in their drinking water.
According to a part of the National and Transnational Study of Disease Burden (NASBOD) conducted by a number of Iranian researchers and published in Springer Science, according to the guidelines of the World Health Organization, the optimal amount of fluoride in drinking water is 1.5 milligrams per liter and with According to the national standard of Iran, which has determined the highest amount of this substance based on the climate of the region, between 1 and 4 tenths to 2 and 4 tenths of a milligram per liter, some parts of Iran have a much higher amount of fluoride (up to 7 milligrams per liter) in They have their own drinking water.
In this study, to evaluate the average fluoride in drinking water of each province in each year and the prevalence of fluorosis and the index of decayed, missing and filled teeth (DMFT), a systematic review was performed from 1990 to 2015 in Iran.
The results of these studies show that the average concentration of fluoride in drinking water in Iran is 0.38 ۵ 0.56 mg / l.
In general, the concentration of fluoride in the drinking water of the southern parts of Iran is higher and in some areas of Bushehr, a very high concentration of it has been found.
The highest and lowest DMFT index in the country
Research shows that the lowest DMFT index in the country in these years was about 1 tenth which was observed in Arsanjan city located in Fars province and the highest index was 6 and 7 tenths which was recorded in Najafabad city of Isfahan.
It should be noted that the prevalence of fluorosis is almost high in Iran and for example in the city of Mako in West Azerbaijan has been 100%.
