1- In December 1962, at the suggestion of the Islamic Society of Dentists of Iran, the Board of Ministers named the 23rd of Farvardin as a dental day every year, and its approval was signed by Mir Hossein Mousavi, the then Prime Minister.

April 13 is the anniversary of the adoption of the law entitled "Training Plan for Oral and Dental Health Workers" by the Islamic Consultative Assembly. This law was passed in 1960 in order to expand and improve oral health services in deprived areas of the country and villages.
In this law, the parliament instructed the Ministry of Health to attract candidates for training in this course, and after giving the necessary training, with a post-diploma degree, to employ them in deprived areas, in order to Provide basic services to prevent the spread of oral diseases and to consider the principle of prevention.

3- With the establishment and expansion of dental schools and the increase in the number of dentists in the country, the oral hygiene training program has lost its relevance for many years. However, April 13 is still celebrated as the day of dentistry.

4- A large part of the dental community currently does not agree with naming April 13 as the day of dentistry. But formal registration one day is a complicated process and requires approval by the Cultural Revolution Council and then the Cabinet. On the other hand, it is very difficult to find a suitable example for dentist day and there is a lot of disagreement about it.

Among the alternatives for dental day that have been proposed by trade union activists in recent years, the following can be mentioned: the day of establishment of the first dental school, the day of approval of the word dentist, the founding day of the Iranian Dental Association, World Dentistry Day and…

5. Before the Revolution and since 1343, January 15, the anniversary of the founding of the Iranian Dental Society was called the Day of Dentistry and was reflected in the calendars of that time. On this day, a comprehensive effort was made to introduce and promote oral health in the community, especially in schools across the country. The audience welcomed the move, turning Dental Day into "Dental Week" from the third year.
